Madden 23 Ultimate Team New Features Revealed

Ultimate Team is one of the popular modes in the Madden franchise. Players can put together a fantasy roster of star players, team favorites, and legends. Gamers can then earn Madden 23 Coins to buy packs, play challenges or games, and upgrade their rosters accordingly, finally winning the championship.

Madden 23 Ultimate Team will once again provide a mountain of content this year, but they're making some changes in the process. So in this article, let's take a deeper look.

Field Pass

The first big change coming to MUT 23 is the new arrival of Field Pass, and these Field Passes will be a part of multiple different facets of Ultimate Team. Passes are reward structures that allow you to earn items as you gain more XP and/or complete objectives.

There are three primary types of Field Passes: Season, Competitive, and Ultimate Team program-specific passes. Every single Field Pass will have distinct rewards, goals, and progression to allow players to earn Madden 23 Coins, packs, uniforms, player items, and more.

MUT Champions

MUT Champions, the most competitive mode in Ultimate Team where you can earn the best rewards and compete at your convenience. Now MUT Champions will be available to play any day of the week. With a weekly reset each Monday, you'll still be able to play up to 25 games per week. With the time constraints simplified, rewards are doing the same and will be delivered after finishing each game rather than waiting for them to arrive later in the week.

Another added feature of this new format is the Champs Entry Tokens. These tokens will earn you an entry into the competitive mode, and you can earn these by completing challenges through Madden 23 Ultimate Team.

Sets 2.0

Sets have always contained some of the best content within Ultimate Team but required a lot of navigation to complete. Sets in MUT 23 have been streamlined. From your Item Binder, you can toggle over and immediately access Sets and clearly see the Set rewards. While completing sets, your lowest cost, unused, and non-favorited items can be highlighted to help you add the right items as well.

Some items used in sets will return directly to your item binder as "BND" or account bound, meaning they can no longer be collected, auctioned, or traded, but can still be used on the Field or quickly sold for reduced Training.

Competitive Play, Player & Strategy Items

Madden 23 Ultimate Team has a flurry of small changes throughout some core mechanics. Competitive Play gets some adjustment as Solo Battles will refresh to allow up to four per day or 28 games per week. H2H Seasons will also be simplified a bit with just 8 games in a season and 6 total divisions, MUT Draft will no longer have Ranked, and Salary Cap has been removed.

Starter teams will begin the year with higher OVR ratings than in the past, and the Power Up system has been scaled back and adjusted significantly. Strategy Items have also been simplified with only three slots for an offense, defense, and Team Affinity Strategy Item to gain extra team chemistry boosts. Strategy Items will also be auctionable this year, and players can earn them throughout the year in Field Passes and packs.
